Drum tower is the soul of Dong ethnic villages. The drum tower is a wooden structure without any iron nails. The floors of this kind of architecture are from a few ones to dozens of ones variously. The floor number is always an odd number because of the cultural factor. Dong’s drum towers can be the tetrahedral one, the hexahedral one and the octal one. The average height of this kind of tower is around 10 meters; the highest one can be nearly 100 meters. The shape of Sanjiang Drum Tower is looked like a pagoda. The magnificent and elaborate structure with gray color leaves visitors a deep impression for its marvelous image and luxury decoration.

Reputed as “the No.1 drum tower of the world”, the Sanjiang Drum Tower, as a project of Sanjiang 50 years founding anniversary, had been finished in 2002 Oct, and built by folk tower-bridge craftsman headed by Dong ethnic craftsman Yang Siyu. It is a site integrating culture, appreciation and tourism into one. Sanjiang Drum Tower creates four most unique records.

1. The largest area among drum towers

This drum tower covers an area of 600 square meters. With the new decorated square, the whole area of this site is about 4,000 meters totally. This site becomes a cultural center for holding ceremonies, trade fairs and festival activities.

2. The highest one among drum towers

The height of this dram tower is 42.6 meters.

3. The most floors among drum towers

Except for two top floors, other 25 floors slowly reduce height and looks like a pagoda. Sanjiang Drum Tower is a 27-floor building, looks dignified and steady. The eaves angle curves upward, integrating with delicate carving decorations and colorful canopies painting, in sharp contrast to the large and rough floor body. It perfectly mixes light and heavy, clumsy and deft, sparse and dense, Coarse and fine, solidness and softness, which leaves you a pleasing and delightful impression.

4. The biggest main pillars among drum towers

The four main pillars in this tower are with diameters above 70cm. The first main pillar is with 208 years history in a diameter of 85cm and a height of 27 meters. The second one is with a history of 206 years. And the third and the forth ones are also with a history more than 100 years. These long-time pillars only can be found in this drum tower. Sanjiangdrum towerintegrates representative work of other folk drum tower, creating its unique feature. The building has 4 floors of oath-taking. The highest oath-taking is located in floor 25, from there the downtown of Sanjiang can be seen. On the base of the drum tower, there are some reliefs, which contain: Dong ethnic robbing flower ball, trampling hall, pressing oil tea, chicken and bird fighting, daily scene etc. The pictures on the reliefs are vivid, with rich village culture, which embodies their building skills for the wooden architectures, and profound technology.

Sitting opposite to the Sanjiang drum tower, Fulu temple is surrounded by mountains and green trees, quiet and serene, and has been a Sanjiang must for the visitors. Fulu temple is a Buddhist temple. Buddhist facilities are available. The Grand Hall looks magnificent and dignified and the temple attracts loyal followers always come one after the other.
