Chinese, Myanmar entrepreneurs discuss economic, trade cooperation in Yangon

Entrepreneurs of China and Myanmar met at the office of Myanmar's biggest business organization -- the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI) in Yangon Wednesday to discuss promotion of the two countries' economic and trade cooperation.
The visiting Chinese business delegation is led by Quan Zhezhu, First Vice-Chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, while the Myanmar delegation is headed by U Zaw Min Win, UMFCCI Vice-President.
At the meeting, Zaw Min Win briefed the Chinese delegation on the latest status of foreign investment in Myanmar.
The Chinese delegation comprises over top business leaders from more than 10 giant enterprises.
According to Myanmar official statistics, China is now Myanmar's third largest trading partner and investor. In 2009, bilateral trade totaled 2.907 billion U.S. dollars.
In the month of May and June, China made a flash investment in Myanmar with a total of 10.475 billion dollars including Hong Kong SAR's 5.394 billion dollars, bringing China's total investment in Myanmar to 12.323 billion dollars up to June this year since the country opened to such investment in late 1988, Myanmar's Central Statistical Organization revealed.
In recent years, the two sides had expanded cooperation in hydropower, energy, mining, communications, fishery, manufacturing and infrastructure, and there had been frequent exchanges in culture, news and sports.
