Recently, Honghua Line II Ship Lock, located in Liyong Town, Yufeng District, Liuzhou City and arranged on the left side of the Line I Ship Lock of Liujiang Honghua Water Control Project, successfully opened to navigation, marking that the waterway navigation capacity of Liuzhou City has been improved from 500 tons to 3,000 tons, with the designed annual one-way traffic capacity of 28.6 million tons, and the development of the regional economy has been firmly guaranteed by waterway transportation.

It is learned that the Liujiang River is the second largest tributary river of the Xijiang mainstream of the Pearl River system, and is the "North Route Channel” among the “One Trunk Line and Three Channels" under Guangxi’s construction of the Xijiang billion-ton golden waterway. As a key controlling project of the “North Route Channel”, the ship lock will not only help Liuzhou connect with the Xijiang Economic Belt, realize the full navigation of the Liujiang secondary channel, and promote the construction of the Liujiang Ecological Economic Belt, but also accelerate the formation of the water transport channel for Liuzhou’s industrial products directly shipping to the Greater Bay Area, which is of great significance for Liuzhou and the cities along the line to actively integrate into the national strategies like the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Great Bay Area and the New Western Land-Sea Corridor.
