First "Made-in-Guangxi" industrial humanoid robot rolls off production line in Liuzhou

"Hello everyone, I am the first Walker S1 produced by Ubtech's Liuzhou Smart Factory. It's a pleasure to meet you all." On June 18th, at the Robot Industrial Park in the Northern Ecological New Area, a humanoid robot introduced itself while waving. That day, the mass-produced industrial humanoid robots from Liuzhou Ubtech Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. rolled off the production line, and this Walker S1 is also the first industrial humanoid robot manufactured in Guangxi. "This is not only a milestone for Ubtech but also a vivid practice of the deep integration and collaborative innovation between humanoid robots and Liuzhou, this renowned industrial city," remarked Sun Changrong, General Manager of Ubtech Technology Manufacturing Center.
The Walker S1 has grey alloy "skin" all over, stands 172 cm tall, weighs 76 kg, has flexible five-fingered hands, a steady gait, and an overall appearance similar to humans. "Its head, chest, waist, feet, and other parts are equipped with 'eyes', forming a complex visual system." Sun Changrong explained that Ubtech, based on its full-stack humanoid robot technology, has developed key embodied AI technologies for general tasks, including multi-modal planning large models, visual and semantic understanding, and learning-based motion control. This enables the Walker S1 to think and learn like a human.
Behind this Walker S1 is a precise humanoid robot final assembly line. The "skeletons" of robots without installed shells are distinct, covered in electronic wiring harnesses and sensors throughout their bodies. Systems such as power drive, environmental perception, and intelligent decision-making are distributed across the torso.
After assembly, these robots will gradually head to the Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor Commercial Vehicle Smart Manufacturing Factory for practical training in the workshops and participation in vehicle manufacturing, realizing "Liuzhou-made humanoid robots" building "Liuzhou-made vehicles".
Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor and Ubtech Technology began cooperation last year to promote the entry of humanoid robots into factories. This is Guangxi's first AI application scenario where humanoid robots participate in vehicle manufacturing. "We look forward to the addition of these new members, collaborating with other intelligent equipment to participate in the entire vehicle manufacturing process," said Lin Changbo, General Manager of Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor.
Currently, Liuzhou is steadfastly implementing the decisions and deployments of the central government and Guangxi on developing the new generation of artificial intelligence, vigorously promoting "AI +" to empower all industries. "The offline ceremony of Guangxi's first industrial humanoid robot and the construction of related application scenarios are the results of Liuzhou seizing major strategic opportunities." Liang Huanqiang, Deputy Director of Liuzhou Municipal Industry and Information Technology Bureau, stated that Liuzhou has successively introduced a series of AI policy measures including action plans, guidance opinions, application scenarios, and opportunity lists, making every effort to create fertile ground for the development of the smart terminal and robot industry.
The parent company of Liuzhou Ubtech Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd., Ubtech Technology is the first humanoid robot enterprise listed on the main board of the Hong Kong stock market nationwide, and entered Liuzhou in 2022. “We have made multiple rounds of strategic investments in Ubtech through direct equity investment to accelerate the development of Liuzhou's robot industry. We will continue to use finance to stir the vitality of industrial-university-research cooperation, and accelerate breakthroughs in key AI technologies and the commercialization of results,” said Zhou Yunxiang, Chairman of the City Industry Group.
