Recently, the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, together with six other autonomous-region-level departments, issued the Several Measures for Further Promoting the Development of Cultural and Creative Products by Cultural and Heritage Units in Guangxi (hereinafter referred to as the Measures), which call for further advancing the development of cultural and creative products by cultural and heritage institutions across the region. The Liuzhou Museum and the Liuzhou Industrial Museum have been named among the first batch of pilot units.

The “Measures” encourage pilot units to leverage their collections, research achievements, brand image, and other resources to develop and operate cultural and creative products through content licensing, operational licensing, naming licensing, and brand licensing. They also support the development of industry associations for cultural and creative product development, facilitate the sharing of resources and channels among market players, and promote the joint creation of cultural and creative brands with strong market influence.

One of the pilot units, the Liuzhou Museum, continues to serve as a cultural window for Liuzhou. Drawing on Liuzhous rich historical heritage, including the legacy of Liu Zongyuan, local ethnic culture, and the culture of Liuzhou luosifen, the museum has developed a range of creative products. These include folding fans featuring Liu Liuzhou, rotating refrigerator magnets with ethnic motifs, copper-drum-shaped refrigerator magnets inspired by Liuzhou luosifen, and translucent postcardsthat showcase cultural relics, offering a multi-dimensionalglimpse into Liuzhous identity as a historically and culturally renowned city.

The Liuzhou Industrial Museum, rooted in Liuzhou’s industrial heritage, draws on its rich industrial culture. It has launched creative products including assembly model kits of the Liuzhou industrial music box series, excavator-shaped lamps, miniature models of dual-power presses, and “Made in China”themed metal blind box refrigerator magnets. These products transform industrial culture into a tangible cultural carrier and integrate it into contemporary life.

Meanwhile, museums across Liuzhou have been actively tapping into Liuzhou’s cultural roots and expanding their presence in the cultural and creative sector. They have successfully transformed Liuzhou’s unique cultural resources, including its historical heritage, ethnic customs, industrial memory, and urban symbols, into creative products that blend local characteristics with market appeal. To date, museums in Liuzhou have developed over 500 cultural and creative products (sets), of which more than 100 have successfully entered the market, while 340 are on long-term display at the Cultural and CreativeProducts Exhibition Corridor of Liuzhou Bauhinia.
