Recently, at the site of Liucheng North Shale Gas Project in Tantou Township, Rong’an County, steady gas output from Well Guirongye 2-1HF was filtered, compressed, and then transported by CNG tank trucks to industrial enterprises in Liuzhou, achieving industrial-chain integration “from wellhead to user”. The project is a major initiative coordinated by the autonomous region and also Guangxi’s first demonstration project for shale gas development. Located at the junction of Liucheng County, Rong’an County, and Rongshui Miao Autonomous County, the project is estimated to have economically recoverable reserves of about 3.1 billion cubic meters. Trial sales began in 2024, marking the first step toward “Guangxi people using Guangxi gas.” From January to March this year, the project has produced 460,000 cubic meters of gas.

At the Huanjiang–Liuzhou (Liucheng South) Shale Gas Exploration Project in Fengshan Town, Liucheng County, one risk exploration well has so far been completed.

Liuzhou is reported to have abundant exploitable shale gas resources. At present, the city is accelerating the development of its “10+N” modern industrial system, planning the shale gas industry and its full industrial chain. At the same time, it is exploring downstream chemical processing such as hydrogen and methanol production from shale gas, as well as the comprehensive utilization of associated resources such as helium purification. It is also promoting effective linkage and coordinated development between the shale gas industry and sectors such as automobiles and equipment manufacturing.
